The Best Cat Rescues in Louisiana State
According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, approximately 3.2 million cats enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year.
Even though 2.1 million cats are adopted every year, still approximately 530,000 shelter cats are euthanized every year. Pathetic.
You can help cats that end up in shelters/rescues by adopting these cats.
We have researched and compiled a list of the best cat rescues in your area.
However, we should mention that our list is not exhaustive because any non-profit organization that takes cats off the streets and offers these cats second chances deserves to be on our list. However, we do not have the space to include everyone.
If you know of any reputable cat rescue that we have not included on our list, please drop the name of the rescue in our comment section below.
Note that the animal rescues listed in this article did not pay us to include them in the list. We did our research without bias.
As a disclaimer, we will like to advise you to do your due diligence before working with any of the listed cat rescue organizations.
Also, always conduct your research and consult with specialists in your region before making any pet-related decisions.

The Mission Statement of Forgotten Felines Rescue: “Forgotten Felines Rescue appreciates any and all updates/pictures of our beloved adopted cats.
We are a foster-based, volunteer only nonprofit cat rescue completely run by 4 recent college graduates. We are located in Southeast Louisiana. Our goal is to help every cat that needs help. This includes but is not limited to ferals, strays, owner surrenders, and cats that have been cast aside and forgotten about by society.
We aim to place all friendly cats and kittens in foster homes until they are adopted into forever homes of their own!
FFR`s objective is to enforce and educate the public about the importance of TNR, or trap-neuter-return. We trap, spay or neuter, and then return ferals back to their colonies as an alternative to euthanasia. These cats are given combo tests to determine their health level then given vaccinations and are returned to their colonies if deemed healthy. All colonies are given a dedicated caretaker to feed and monitor them. Any sick cat is quickly re-trapped.”
Serendipity Pet Rescue is a no-kill shelter/rescue.
The Mission Statement of Trap Dat Cat: “Trap Dat Cat is an all volunteer group that works together to help the community cats of New Orleans, Louisiana. While we have all worked as volunteers in different aspects of rescue and with different organizations for many years, we founded Trap Dat Cat, Inc. in April of 2020, when Covid-19 severely limited resources for community cats. As a group, we were able to streamline fundraising and partner with local shelters and veterinarians to provide low cost spay and neuter services and to secure medical care for cats in need. To limit overhead costs, we have no paid employees, no offices, work out of our homes, and all donate our time, money, and resources to continue the work we love. Through fundraising and the generosity of donors, we have been able to help numerous cats, trapping an average of about 50 cats a week.
Kittens we find in the field during TNR that are unable to be returned are placed into foster homes until they are socialized, vetted, and placed for adoption. We subscribe to the #FullCircleTNR method of kitten rescue, assuring our team locates and sterilizes the mother cat and the colony where kittens are found. This ends the cycle of reproduction that leads to more kittens being born on the streets, creating a more lasting impact and long term solution than simply rescuing kitten after kitten.
We are are a 501c3 nonprofit organization. “
The Mission Statement of Tomato Foster Club: “Tomato Foster Club a 100% volunteer, foster-based rescue specializing in neonatal, sick or special needs kittens.
We are not open to the public.
