The Best Dog Rescues in Tulsa County
According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, approximately 3.1 million dogs enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year.
Even though 2 million dogs are adopted every year, approximately 390,000 shelter dogs are still euthanized every year. Sad.
You can help dogs that end up in shelters/rescues by adopting these dogs.
We have researched and compiled a list of the best dog rescues in your area.
We should mention that our list is not exhaustive because any non-profit organization that takes dogs off the streets and offers dogs second chances deserves to be on our list. However, we do not have the space to include everyone.
If you know of any reputable dog rescue that we have not included on our list, please drop the name of the rescue in our comment section below.
Note that the animal rescues listed in this article did not pay us to include them in the list. We did our research without bias.
As a disclaimer, we will like to advise you to do your due diligence before working with any of the listed dog rescue organizations.
Also, always conduct your research and consult with specialists in your region before making any pet-related decisions.
If you think that rescuing a dog is not for you, and you want to buy a puppy instead, see our article on how much dogs of different breeds cost. Also, see our list of reputable dog breeders in different US states here.

The Mission Statement of Tulsa SPCA: “The Tulsa SPCA was founded in 1913 by a group of Tulsa citizens who were concerned about homeless dogs and cats and wanted to protect against abuse of draft animals used to do tilling on farms and heavy work in the mines and oil fields.
The Tulsa SPCA`s mission is to improve the lives of dogs and cats, and their human companions.
We value animals and believe that they deserve love, safety, and humane care. We provide safe, transitional shelter and medical care to all our cats and dogs. We place our animals into forever homes where they receive the companionship and care they deserve.”

This is an all volunteer 501c3 organization dedicated to the improvement of the lives of our best friends.
Currently millions of pets are euthanized every year due to over population. In fact, each person in the U.S would have to take 8-9 dogs or cats per person for all of the homeless pets to be adopted. It is the national goal within animal rescue organizations that this will be a no kill nation. To achieve this goal, we require all of our dogs to be spayed or neutered before adoption. Also we provide education regarding the importance of spaying and neutering our pets. A veterinarian we work with will be assisting us in providing low cost spay and neuter programs, thus providing these services to those who could not otherwise afford them.”
The Mission Statement of Animal Aid of Tulsa, Inc.: “Animal Aid of Tulsa, Inc. was founded by Helen Dawson in 1961. We provide care and treatment for the sick, abused and injured stray cats and dogs in our community. We have a thrift store located at 3307 E. 15th Street in Tulsa where all proceeds go towards our mission of providing care and treatment to our rescued cats and dogs. All items sold are generously donated to us by the citizens in our community.
We partner with local veterinarians to care and treat our animals, they can be visited at the .”
The Mission Statement of C.A.R.E Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts: “We are an animal rescue group. Our goal is to provide a safe place for shelter animals that are on the euthanasia list, neglected and homeless animals. We ensure they receive the medical care they need and that they find a safe, loving home. We try our hardest to help individuals place their animlas into a rescue or a safe, loving home. We depends on your generous donations to do what we do.
